:: Noppakao follows the championship's prize
The races of IODA World Sailing Championship 2009 already have their highlight. A thai with a humble origin and fantastic sail is the perfect example of concentration on the Bay. Her ball consists on perfect jibes, unfailing attention and lightness in movements. On the bay stage, the wind’s dance has already its ballerina,and her name is Nappakao Poonpat.

:: Day of many races
In this Thursday afternoon, 3 races were sailed. The competition already counts on 11 valid races and 3 more are scheduled for tomorrow. One of the most disputed races was the green x blue, with excelent disputes at the gate and the buoys. In the other race, pink x white, the peruvian sailed really well and won the race. The brazilian Ricardo Paranhos was the 4th and got the best place between the Brazilians today.



:: Dia de muitas regatas
Na tarde desta quinta-feira, três regatas foram realizadas. A competição já contabiliza 11 regatas válidas e mais três estão previstas para amanhã. Uma das corridas mais disputadas foi a bateria verde X azul com excelentes disputas no gate e nas bóias. Já na regata, rosa X branco, o peruano Sinclair Jones velejou muito bem e venceu a regata. O brasileiro Ricardo Paranhos ficou em quarto e conseguiu os melhores resultados do dia para os brasileiros.

:: Noppakao rumo ao título
As regatas do IODA World Sailing Championship 2009 já têm seu principal destaque. Uma tailandesa de origem humilde e velejadas fantásticas dá uma aula de compenetração na enseada de São Francisco. O baile da velejadora consiste em jibes perfeitos (virar em roda, ao contrário do bordo), atenção inabalável e muita leveza nos movimentos. No palco da enseada, a dança dos ventos já tem sua bailarina e o nome dela é Nappakao Poonpat.

:: Brazilian team did it great in the first team races day

Brazilian team formed by Ricardo Paranhos, Mário Mazzaferro, Caio Swan, Alexander Elstrodt e Felipe Rondina hás shown great skills in the first championship’s team races day. The first dispute was against the sailors from Great Britain, and it was hard to the brazilians. The sailor from Sao Paulo, Alexander Elstrodt, was punished and had to turn around his axis.
In the end of the race, the britain sailors were leading, and the brazilian would have to go to recap. But the sailor Caio Swan, who has led for a long time, went back and made a perfect mark in the end. So the brazilians got the first victory today. The second race was brilliant, the boys form Brazil had an excellent start against the US Virgin Island sailors. Four of the guys were in the first places. Ricardo Paranhos, one of the favourites to the title, pulled the brazilians in the race.
This Monday (10th), the brazilians are going back to the bay to try to get the team racing world’s championship.

:: Equipe brasileira dá show no primeiro dia do torneio por equipes

A equipe brasileira formada por Ricardo Paranhos, Mário Mazzaferro, Caio Swan, Alexander Elstrodt e Felipe Rondina mostrou muita categoria no primeiro dia do torneio por equipes do IODA World Sailing Championship 2009. A primeira disputa foi com os velejadores da Gra-Bretanha, os brasileiros tiveram muita dificuldade. O velejador de São Paulo, Alexandre Elstrodt, tomou uma punição e teve que girar sobre o próprio eixo.
No fim da regata, os velejadores gran-bretanhos lideravam e os brasileiros teriam que ir para repescagem, mas o velejador Caio Swan, que liderou durante um bom tempo, voltou e fez uma marcação perfeita no final da regata. Assim os brasileiros garantiram a primeira vitória do dia.
A segunda regata foi brilhante, os meninos do Brasil fizeram uma excelente largada contra os velejadores das Ilhas Virgins. Os quatro chegaram nas primeiras posições. Ricardo Paranhos, um dos favoritos ao título, puxou a fila da seleção brasileira.
Nesta segunda (10), os brasileiros irão voltar para enseada para tentar conquistar o título do mundial por equipes.

:: Malaysia was great in first races' day

Today finally IODA World Sailing Championship 2009 started. Two races happened in the morning and another in the afternoon. Around 8h30 the sailors went to the lane looking for good winds. But the wasn’t so lucky. About 12h45 they came back to the Clube determined by the Race Committee. Later, around 14h, the wind came back and the sailors went out for another race. There were the 3 first official races.
Today’s highlights were from Malaysia Team, the names are MOHAMAD FAIZAL NORIZAN and AHMAD SYUKRI ADBUL AZIZ, followed by the chilean MATHIAS ROBERTSON. The brazilian better placed was RICARDO PARANHOS, who finished in 24th position.
Tomorrow the races begin at 12h.

:: Malásia faz bonito no primeiro dia de regatas

Hoje finalmente o IODA World Sailing Championship 2009 começou. Duas regatas foram realizadas no pela manhã e mais uma no período da tarde. Por volta das 8h30 os velejadores foram pra água em busca de bons ventos. Porém não tiveram muita sorte. Aproximadamente 12h45 eles retornaram para o Clube por uma determinação da Comissão de Regata. Mais tarde, por volta das 14h, o vento voltou e os velejadores foram para mais uma regata. Foram as três primeiras regatas oficiais.
O destaques do dia de hoje foram da delegação da Malásia, os nomes são MOHAMAD FAIZAL NORIZAN e AHMAD SYUKRI ABDUL AZIZ, seguidos pelo chileno MATHIAS ROBERTSON. O melhor brasileiro classificado no dia de hoje foi RICARDO PARANHOS, que terminou o dia na 24ª colocação.
Amanhã as regatas terão início às 12h.

The World’s Championship will begin

Friday, August 7th, should be the second IODA World Sailing Championhip races’ day. But yesterday the sailors haven’t had good luck and the wind didn’t come to Sao Francisco bay. But the expectations for today are great, 3 races are forseen. Around 3am a strong wind came in, and the sailors went hopeful to the water.

Vai começar o Mundial

Sexta, 7 de agosto, deveria ser o segundo dia de regatas válidas pelo IODA World Sailing Championship 2009. Porém, no dia de ontem os velejadores não tiveram muita sorte e o vento não apareceu na Enseada de Jurujuba. Mas as expectativas para o dia de hoje são boas, com previsão de três regatas. Por volta das 3h da manhã um forte vento entrou, fazendo com que os velejadores fossem pra água com muita expectativa.

The sea can separate nations as well as help to put people together: it depends only of how we use it. This World Sailing Championship is an opportunity to put together representatives of 49 countries in one of the biggest sailing contest that the city of Niterói has ever had. It makes us realize the important sense of union between people. Hundreds of teenagers from different nationalities are here in search of the most important goal of every competitor: the victory through lawful ways.

The International Optimist Dinghy Association - IODA has trusted Clube Naval Charitas to organize and carry out the World Championship of the Optimist Class. Clube Naval Charitas has chosen as the theme for this great event the generation of clean energy and the preservation of the environment, activities already known by our Club, where, for example, the water of the rain is collected and treated for the use of washing the boats, the swimming pool is heated by solar energy and the deck of the new marina is covered by recyclable material instead of wood.

Welcoming the teams that honor us with their presence, we hope that there are enough reasons to believe that the spirit of fraternization will prevail right next to the spirit of competition. The first, for the well being of people and respect for nature in the steps of life, and the second for the pursuit of success in the steps of the competition. If it happens, we will be all winners!

O mar pode separar como também pode unir pessoas, povos e nações: depende unicamente do uso que dele fazemos. A International Optimist Dinghy Association - IODA, ao confiar ao Clube Naval Charitas a responsabilidade de organizar e realizar o Campeonato Mundial da Classe Optimist, elegeu como temas deste grande evento a geração de energia limpa e a preservação do meio ambiente, atividades familiares ao nosso Clube, onde, por exemplo, a água da chuva é coletada e tratada para lavagem de barcos, a piscina é aquecida por energia solar e o deque da nova marina é coberto com material reciclável em lugar da madeira.

Ao apresentar as boas-vindas às equipes que nos honram com suas presenças, julgamos que há motivos suficientes para crer que o espírito de confraternização prevalecerá ao lado do espírito de competição,o primeiro, pelo bem-estar das pessoas e pelo respeito à Natureza nas raias da vida, e o segundo pela busca do sucesso nas raias da competição.
